    Luban No.22 Infill Plane LBINPL

Infill planes are a design that bridges the gap between traditional wooden planes and the more modern all-metal planes.

They can offer the best of both worlds; the strength of a metal chassis with the warmth and inertia of solid timber. Luban’s No.22 is a sleek and effective contemporary take on the infill concept. A must-have for plane enthusiasts and all woodworkers to love to use handtools.

Made from precision-machined brass and tight-grained bubinga, the Luban Infill Plane is a handsome tool that sits beautifully in the hand. However, it is no mantelpiece show-pony: this plane is a user.

The cutting action is smooth and crisp with no blade chatter. Blade adjustments are simple and positive with minimal backlash. The T10 steel blade is set bevel-down onto a 37 degree frog, giving a cutting angle that is ideal for shooting end-grain and mitres. We’ve tested the No.22 on side-grain Aussie hardwood as well, and it felt equally at ease.
