Get digital accuracy and motorised ease with the Sherwood Motorised DRO Router Lift & Mounting Plate.
Routing can bring high-level machining accuracy to any woodworking project, yet even the slightest gap will create extra work or waste to fix the problem. The Sherwood Motorised DRO Router Lift delivers digital accuracy to your bit height adjustment.
The 298 x 235mm top mounting plate is identical to the standard aluminium router mounting plates - milled and CNC-machined from 6mm-thick anodized aluminium plate. Over and above the standard mounting plate, extra holes are machined to mount the lift assembly underneath. Every plate is checked for flatness for a perfectly smooth surface closest to the bit - where it matters most.
Six grub screws installed along the edges of the mounting plate ensure a perfectly level fit to the lip of the router table underneath. An insert ring spanner comes standard with the mounting plate as well as a starter pin and two holes to mount it either to the left or the right of the bit. The supplied insert ring features a 1 1/4in opening diameter. Additional insert rings can be purchased here.
Motorised Lift with Digital Readout
Get digital accuracy and easy height adjustment with the motorised lift and digital read out. The simple design of the control box features an on/off switch at the base, an easy-to-use height adjustment knob, and inset magnets at the rear, allowing it to mounted wherever suits best on your router table set up.
Intuitive on-screen settings allow for quick adjustments to the highest and lowest points, switching between metric and imperial scales, and snapping to a custom zero point. Default adjustment increments are 0.5mm and 0.02in respectively, with an additional six default settings: 2, 4 or 6mm for metric, and 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2in for imperial. Simply turn the knob left or right to your desired height shown clearly on the display, and then press once to let the lift do the rest for you.
Four Pillar Design
This lift has four pillars at each extremity of the lift - all threaded so that when the cradle is adjusted - they all act in unison to keep the cradle perfectly parallel to the top plate. The threaded rod is dead-straight, heavy-duty hardened black steel that will last a lifetime.
Each post has sealed long-life bearings along with automotive-grade sprockets and drive chains. Two extra floating sprockets allows for smooth chain adjustment that virtually eliminates the backlash, providing those most accurate of height adjustments.
Heavy-Duty Cradle Support
Vibration is the enemy of routing - it can cause chattering on the work piece and even worse - ruin router bits and router shafts and bearings. With the Sherwood Motorised DRO Router Lift vibration is absorbed through the massive reinforced, cast aluminium cradle. All the important parts are machined multiple times so that the mounting system mates perfectly square with the mounting plate above it.
In North America - 4.2in (106.7mm) diameter fixed-base routers are the industry-standard. With the fixed base removed, the motor body is a perfect companion to a router lift - allowing for mounting so that the collet can be near or even sit above the table when fully wound up, making bit changes much easier.
This lift has a billet aluminium machined clamp that holds this round-body motor in place. A six-point mounting system secures it to the aluminium cradle with a huge M12 clamping bolt to secure the body in place.

The Sherwood Brushless Water-Cooled Motor & Inverter
Step up to the Sherwood Water-Cooled Motor, an impressive upgrade to the standard router set up. A typical brushed router motor is designed for a normal lifespan of approximately 1,000 working hours. In contrast, the brushless Water-Cooled Motor is designed for a lifespan of 10,000 working hours before a major overhaul or replacement may be required.
The external inverter converts standard single-phase 240V to three-phase 415V 2.2kW power - to handle ANY routing cut with maximum torque. This handy feature also means that you can turn it on and off, and adjust the speed remotely, anywhere from 0 – 24,000 RPM.
The motor is water-cooled, meaning it can run all-day, every day without variation, regardless of ambient temperature. And when we say all day, we also mean all night! The Sherwood Water-Cooled Motor runs whisper quiet compared to a standard router motor; the majority of the noise is generated only when the bit engages with the work piece.
The motor uses industry-standard ER20 collets, so with a full collet set, you can run any bit with a shank size 2 - 13mm. The motor comes standard with 12-13mm collet to run standard 1/2in shank bits. When it’s time to change the bit or collet, the setup allows you to wind the motor up to change the bit above the worktable.
The 80mm body of the Water-Cooled Motor is supplied with an adapter to suit the standard cradle of Sherwood Router Lifts, or other North American style cradles. A groove is machined into the spindle body and a spring washer is installed. A matching groove is machined into the adapter so that when combined with the spring washer on the motor, it locks the motor in place inside the adapter. This extra safety step means that no matter what vertical pressure is placed on the motor - it is held captive in the adapter.
PLEASE NOTE: The spindle MUST have cooling water running throughout it continuously when in-use. DO NOT run it at any time without the coolant flowing through the spindle.
