A zero-clearance insert is the best way to ensure a clean cut on your bandsaw.
The clearance on the standard insert that is included with the machine is large enough to allow the table to be tilted. However, this gap can allow small offcuts to fall through the table and foul on the lower blade guides. It also fails to provide maximum support to the workpiece directly next to the blade, leading to rough and chipped edges, especially when crosscutting with low tpi blades or when cutting plywood and laminates.
Sherwood’s Zero-Clearance Inserts for the 10in and 14in Heavy-Duty Bandsaws solves these issues, delivering clean and safe cuts on all materials. They are produced from 2mm thick aluminium and machined to fit the table recess perfectly. They are stable, flat, and easy to install.
- Support what you’re cutting right up to the blade.
- Stop offcuts falling through and jamming the guides
- Reduce chip-out and tearing on the underside of the workpiece, especially when crosscutting, or on plywood and laminates.
Note: angled cuts should be made with the original insert, because these cuts require more blade clearance.
