Cove Back Cutting Router Bits for Horizontal Panel Raising

Horizontal panel raising bits are great for producing centre panels with cathedral or arched shapes for the traditional raised panel door look. If you are only making rectangular-shape panels then we recommend the vertical panel raising bits which are much safer and easier to use.

If you are using 19mm door frames and 19mm raised panel material and would like the two work pieces to sit flush, then this bit is the easier to setup and use as it cuts a rebate in the back of the material to reduce the height of the face of the panel relative to the frame.

When using horizontal panel raising bits, you should usually machine the timber in two passes and you must run the router on its lowest speed setting (a maximum of 12,000rpm).

**These bits must be used in a router table with fence.
