Gilly’s Effects Waxes are a unique, natural blend of renewable waxes, oils and pigments. They can be used on raw timber to provide a white or black washed, stained look. Alternatively, they are brilliant when applied over another finish to add an antiquing effect. Mineral and chalk paints are especially good candidates for the rustic effect of these waxes.

The pigments in Gilly’s Effects Waxes accumulate in the corners of relief carvings and mouldings, picking out the details and allowing you to develop an antique, rustic effect easily and quickly. We recommend applying a clear wax under the Black Effects Wax on lighter paints. This will allow you to control the amount of pigment on the surface. Follow up both colours with a coat of Carnauba Polish Clear for added protection and to lock colour in.
